Fit4Truth’s daylong programs provide children and teens the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities that help build self-esteem, confidence and respect for themselves, others and the environment.

In partnership with several Tampa Bay organizations, Fit4Truth organizes get-away opportunities for children and teens in foster care. Retreats are also available for at-risk youth who are not in foster care.

The daylong retreats provide kids the opportunity to participate in safe, active, outdoor activities that they would otherwise not experience. The retreats are developed to help youth build self-esteem, confidence and respect for themselves, others and the environment.

The mental and physical challenges that Fit4Truth orchestrates provide children and teens opportunities to learn, succeed and grow. Volunteers guide the youth on their path to self-discovery and provide lessons that the kids can incorporate into their daily lives.

Following are some of the retreats provided by Fit4Truth:

Island Quest for Success Retreat

On Anclote Key Preserve State Park in Tarpon Springs, kids experience Florida’s wilderness and waterways up close and personal. Coordinated with Fit4Truth’s partner sponsor, Atlantis V Charters and Services Foundation, on the water, children and teens kayak, fish, snorkel, sail and dolphin watch. And on land at the preserve, they receive wildlife instruction, hike and learn how to use land navigation to hunt for buried treasure!

Through the retreat, participating youth are guided by volunteers and learn additional life skills from a professional or business speaker.

Rotary’s Camp Florida Retreat

In partnership with Tampa Interbay Rotary, the Rotary’s Camp Florida retreat provides outdoor activities for all interests. The 21-acre camp, located in Brandon, Florida, provides just the right get-away for foster care youth. The comforting and secluded setting affords Fit4Truth volunteers the space and environment to interact with the kids as they hike, canoe, kayak, run the obstacle course, use the archery and BB gun range and have fun on scavenger hunts.

Climbing for Success Retreat

In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Fit4Truth’s Climbing for Success retreat is held at TreeUmph! Adventure Course in Bradenton, Florida. Volunteers guide youth through the tree tops, teaching about trust, self-reliance and team work as the group ventures across wobbly bridges, hanging nets, bungee swings, swinging logs, foot bridges, Tarzan ropes and zip lines.
